A church where the message has to be heard
All Saints Church in Crowborough, East Sussex gathers a 600-strong congregation for its services, with preachers, musicians, and a choir all depending on the same sound system. For a church built around the spoken word, being seen and heard clearly is fundamental to what happens every Sunday.
The church was suffering from a common problem: an ageing sound system that was past its best. Keen to ensure that services remain accessible to everyone, All Saints turned to Ashdown Audio Visual to help it find a new sound reinforcement system.

The challenge
Clarity for 600, without disturbing the architecture
The new system had to deliver clear, even sound to the congregation, the speakers, and the musicians across the length of the room. Sound quality was the main priority, but aesthetics mattered too: the hardware had to fit the architectural surroundings, not fight them.
After sampling several brands, the teams from both the installer and the church heard the difference immediately. The Electro-Voice system stood out for how natural it sounded before any processing was applied.
The solution
One EVA system, tuned to the room with SONICUE
Ashdown Audio Visual specified 2 Electro-Voice EVA 2082S-906 line-array modules for even coverage across the length of the room, EVA 2151D subwoofers, and ZX1i loudspeakers for infill and as a monitor system for the choir. The white version of the EVA loudspeakers was chosen to blend seamlessly into the existing architecture.
Dynacord IPX series amplifiers drive the system, with an IPX10:4 powering the tops and subs and an IPX5:4 looking after the fills and monitors. Dynacord's SONICUE sound system software was used to tune the system and completes the set-up.
