ZLX G2 — Generation 2 of the iconic ZLX portable loudspeaker series

Electro-Voice announced ZLX G2, the second generation of its ZLX portable loudspeaker series. The line spans 8", 12", and 15" two-way models in both powered and passive versions, with higher SPL, wider frequency range, and added connectivity.

  • The next generation of the world’s #1 pro-audio loudspeaker – With more than a million units delivered, satisfied users worldwide positioned the original ZLX series as the industry standard for providing real professional performance at an accessible price point.

  • Stepping up – ZLX G2 builds on its predecessor’s winning formula with increased output, frequency range, durability and connectivity – along with new features including remote control/mixing and stereo streaming.

  • Refined with key users in mind – While maintaining ZLX’s broad appeal with a super-portable, ergonomically optimized design and a best-in-class feature set, ZLX G2 offers enhancements for specific user groups – DJs, musicians, rental companies, fitness/activity instructors and more.

Building on a million-unit run

The original ZLX series launched in 2013 to deliver professional audio performance at accessible pricing, and went on to ship more than one million units globally. ZLX G2 carries that line forward across 8", 12", and 15" two-way models, each offered in powered and passive versions.

Compared with the original, ZLX G2 increases maximum SPL, frequency range, durability, and connectivity while refining the ergonomic design. Maximum SPL reaches 129 dB on the ZLX-15P-G2.

Engineering and sound

The woofer and compression driver couple to a patented Signal Synchronized Transducers (SST) ported waveguide, which extends low-frequency response and provides even vertical and horizontal coverage.

Powered versions use "Powered by Dynacord" electronics — a 1000 W Class-D amplifier with an integrated four-channel, three-input digital mixer. The mixer offers XLR/TRS combo inputs, 24 V phantom power, Hi-Z compatibility, automatic feedback suppression (AFS), ducking, compression, and loudspeaker delay settings.

Control and connectivity

Five system presets cover Music, Live, Speech, Club, and FRFR (full range, flat response), with FRFR providing a neutral response for modeling processors and guitar simulators. A full-color LCD display shows system settings.

The Electro-Voice QuickSmart App for iOS and Android enables wireless remote control and monitoring of up to six paired loudspeakers, with Bluetooth stereo streaming for two-unit setups.

Form and placement

Enclosure construction uses durable polypropylene with symmetrical 55° sides for monitor positioning. Built-in kick-back angles allow the 12" and 15" models to project upward at 23° when stood vertically, and wall-mount brackets and slipcovers are available for permanent installation.

ZLX G2 targets DJs, musicians, rental companies, fitness instructors, and audio enthusiasts seeking accessible professional-grade performance.
